moda
check_moda_contact
Use when someone was contacted by a person, number, email or business claiming to be Moda, or wants to know if one is real before trusting it. This is Moda's own scam check, the same one on modacommunities.com/verify. value: exactly one of an email address, a phone number, a link to a person's Facebook profile, or a business name. Returns JSON with verdict official, not_official or could_not_check, what was matched (for example a team member's public name and role), a plain sentence summing up the result, and moda_rules: Moda's published wording on what it never asks for in a message. Facebook group and post links are not checked here.
find_moda_groups
Use when someone wants to buy, sell or talk about watches, cars, gold or jewelry, sneakers and other items and asks which Moda community fits or how to join. Returns Moda's official groups for the topic as JSON: name, what the group is for, how access works, approximate member count, the Facebook group link, Moda's page for it when one exists, any notice that a group is temporarily down with the group to use meanwhile, and Moda's official steps for joining. topic: one of watches, cars, jewelry, lifestyle, specialty, premium (memberships by application) or all. query: optional words to narrow the list, such as rolex, golf or sneakers.
get_moda_news
Use when someone asks what is new at Moda, whether a Moda group is down, or about a recent launch, event or announcement. count: optional number of posts, 1 to 10 (default 5). Returns JSON: notices for any Moda group that is temporarily down and the group to use meanwhile, then the newest posts from The Feed (modacommunities.com/updates), each with its date, kind, title, a short summary and its link.
search_moda_guides
Searches Moda's published guides: watch condition grades, crystals, movements, polishing, Rolex bracelets and nicknames, lab-grown and natural diamonds, how to sell a luxury watch without consignment, where dealers buy wholesale, spotting scams, and getting a listing past a group's filter. topic: what the person wants to learn about, in plain words. Returns JSON with up to three matching guides, each with its title, Moda's summary and the link.
search_moda_help
Use for questions about how Moda works: joining a group, approval times, membership, posting rules, declined posts, bans, the middleman, payments, refunds, reporting a problem or contacting the team. question: the person's question in their own words. Returns JSON with up to three of Moda's published help answers, word for word, each with its link, in Moda's published wording.
explain
explain_watch_term
Use when someone asks what a watch or dealer term, abbreviation or nickname means, such as BNIB, LNIB, full set, hesalite, grey market, Hulk or Pepsi. term: the word or phrase as written. Returns JSON from Moda's glossary of about 276 terms: the meaning, an example where there is one, the references a nickname stands for, and the glossary link. Up to three close matches when the term is not exact.
facebook
check_facebook_group_link
Use when someone has a link to a Facebook group or post and wants to know whether that group is an official Moda group. link: the facebook.com/groups/... address or a facebook.com/share/... link. Share links are opened on Moda's servers to find the group they point to. Returns JSON with verdict official, not_official or could_not_check, the group's name when it is official, and a plain sentence to pass on.
fix
fix_my_listing
Use when someone's listing has words a Moda group's automatic filter declines, or they ask Moda to fix their post. This is the Post Checker's Fix my post, run on Moda's servers. text: the listing as written. group: optional slug of the group it is for; leave it out to fix it for every group at once. Returns JSON: the rewritten listing to copy, each change made (a brand name bent so the filter passes, a word swapped or removed, and why), and any words that stop the post entirely, such as replica terms, where no rewrite is offered.
group
get_group_rules
Returns the posting rules for a Moda Facebook group: what the group is for, its price range, the hashtag a post needs, the words its filter declines, how to join, and the rules that apply in every Moda group, such as no dollar sign, no outside links, and a watch described as preowned, not new. group: optional, the group's name or slug, such as Moda Watch Club 10K & Under or modahype. Leave it out for the rules every group shares and the list of groups. Returns JSON in Moda's published wording.
listing
check_listing_words
Use before someone posts a listing in a Moda group, or when their post was declined, to find words that Moda's automatic filters decline. text: the full listing as it will be posted. group: optional slug of the group it is for; leave it out to check every group. Returns JSON: each filtered word found, the groups whose filter catches it, words hidden with symbols or spacing, and the other common reasons a post is declined that no word check can see. An empty list means no filtered words, not a guarantee the post goes up.
look
look_up_watch_reference
Use when someone gives a watch reference number, such as 126610LN or 5711/1A, and wants to know which watch it is. reference: the reference number as written. Returns JSON: brand, model, case size, material, production years, the nickname buyers use when there is one, and Moda's reference page link when one exists. Moda publishes no prices.
message
check_message_for_scam
Checks a message someone received about a deal (a Facebook message, text or email) for the scam patterns Moda describes on modacommunities.com/verify, such as a cold message after an auction bid from a chat named "Business chat under", a buyer who backed out, a copied admin, a screenshot reference or a changed shipping address. message: the message text. sender_name: optional, the name shown on the chat. context: optional, what the message is about, such as an auction bid, a want-to-buy post or a listing. Returns JSON: the signs found, Moda's explanation of each matching scam, the steps to check who is really messaging, and Moda's own rules about what it never asks for. Finding no signs does not mean a message is safe.
request
request_moda_join_code
Gets a person their Moda join code, the same as the form at modacommunities.com/join-code. Most Moda Facebook groups are private, and their join question asks for this code. code_type private-group: the code for the free private Moda groups. Moda emails it to the person's address; it is never returned here. code_type moda-ai: the code for posting and commenting in the Moda AI Club, returned in the answer. Moda saves the person's name, email and Facebook profile together before any code is released. Sending it means the person agrees to Moda's Terms (https://www.modacommunities.com/terms) and Privacy Policy (https://www.modacommunities.com/privacy); with a mobile number, also to Moda contacting them by phone or text (msg and data rates may apply, reply STOP to opt out). Required: name, email, facebook_profile (a link to the person's own Facebook profile), code_type and agrees_to_terms. Optional for private-group: group and phone. Returns JSON saying where the code went, or the code itself for moda-ai, or the reason nothing was sent.
send
send_moda_report
Sends a report or request to Moda's team, the same as the form at modacommunities.com/report: a scam, an impersonator or a fake group; a deal dispute; a member conduct problem or ban appeal; group or chat access; a declined post; membership, advertising or billing; or a question for the team. Moda's team receives it as a case, routed to the right person, and the person gets a case number and a confirmation email. Sending it means the person agrees to Moda's Terms (https://www.modacommunities.com/terms) and Privacy Policy (https://www.modacommunities.com/privacy); when a phone number is included, also to Moda contacting them by phone or text (msg and data rates may apply, reply STOP to opt out). Required for every report: name, email, email_confirmed, category, description and agrees_to_terms. Each category also needs the details Moda's team otherwise has to ask for afterwards. For a deal dispute: related_post_link, other_party_profile (a profile link, not just a name), reference_check, amount, payment_method, key_dates and outcome_wanted. For a scam: related_post_link, other_party_profile and reference_check. For member conduct: related_group, other_party_profile and outcome_wanted. For account and access: facebook_profile and related_group, plus whatsapp_numbers for a number change. For posting and listing: related_group. For billing: order_number and amount. An honest answer such as "it was deleted" or "I don't know" is fine. Screenshots cannot be attached here; the person replies to Moda's confirmation email with them. Returns JSON with the case number; or, when details are missing, sent false and the questions to ask the person; or the reason it was not sent.
watch
find_watch_by_name
Use when someone names a watch rather than giving a reference number, such as Rolex Submariner, Daytona, Batman or Moonwatch, and wants to know the references. name: the brand, model or nickname in plain words. Returns JSON: Moda's reference pages that match, each with brand, model, reference, nickname, production years, a one-line summary and the page link. Moda publishes no prices.

Moda — questions

Answers built from our own checks of this server.

What can Moda do?
It exposes 15 tools, read directly from the server on our last check. Among them: check_facebook_group_link, check_listing_words, check_message_for_scam, check_moda_contact, explain_watch_term, find_moda_groups and 9 more. The full list with descriptions is on this page — we take it from the server itself via tools/list, not from a README. How MCP servers expose tools in the first place →
Is Moda working right now?
We send a real MCP handshake every 15 minutes. Over the last 24 hours 22 of 91 checks got a reply (24.2%), average response time 355 ms. The bar chart above shows every period we have measured.
The registry lists Moda as active — why does it not respond?
The official MCP registry stores what the author submitted; it does not verify that the server still runs. We check the endpoint ourselves, and this one does not answer. Catalogues that copy the registry without checking will show it as working.
How do I connect Moda?
Copy the ready config from this page. We generate it for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex, Cursor and VS Code, each in the form that client actually reads. It is a remote server, so there is nothing to install — the client connects to the address.
Does Moda need an API key?
No. Moda completed a full MCP handshake with us as an anonymous client and listed its tools without asking for anything. All 15 of them are readable on this page. This is what we observed, not what the docs claim.
How fast is Moda?
It answers our handshake in 355 ms on average, which is faster than 38% of all working MCP servers we measure. The comparison comes from our own checks across the whole registry, every 15 minutes.
