Read directly from the server with tools/list, grouped by what they act on. If a tool disappears, we record the date.

workyard
workyard_add_time_card_note
WRITE: add a text note to one time card (POST .../time_cards/{id}/notes). Adds a new note on every call; it does not edit or delete existing notes.
workyard_approve_time_card
WRITE: approve ONE time card (PATCH .../time_cards/{id}/approve). Approval feeds payroll in Workyard and may not be undoable through the API: only call it when the user asked to approve this exact time card.
workyard_get_organization
The organization this connection uses (id, name, settings such as timezone) from GET /orgs/{org_id}.
workyard_get_project
One project by id (workyard_list_projects gives the ids).
workyard_get_time_card
One time card by id, with its details (workyard_list_time_cards gives the ids).
workyard_list_active_geofences
All active geofences with limited data (Workyard: GET active_geofences). It does not say who is clocked in; use workyard_list_time_cards with status working for that.
workyard_list_employees
List employees of the organization (employee_id, profile_id, name, title, role, status, contact data). Filter by status (active, removed, saas_disabled, expired; comma list), email, role name or free-text search. Paged: use next_page.
workyard_list_geofence_projects
The projects attached to one geofence (work site). Paged: use next_page.
workyard_list_geofences
List geofences / work sites (id, name, place, enabled, radius). Filter by name, enabled state or project. Paged: use next_page.
workyard_list_projects
List projects (id, name, identifier, customer, locations). Optionally filter by name or archived state. Paged: use next_page.
workyard_list_time_card_activity_segments
The activity segments of one time card (where and on which project the employee worked, segment by segment). Not paged.
workyard_list_time_cards
List time cards (id, employee_id, start_dt_unix, end_dt_unix, status, approver, totals). Workyard returns only status=working when no status is given, so pass status (for example submitted, approved) for finished work. Filter by employee and by start time (unix seconds, interpreted in the organization timezone). Paged: use next_page; the reply also carries time_summary.

Workyard MCP by usefulapi — questions

Answers built from our own checks of this server.

What can Workyard MCP by usefulapi do?
It exposes 12 tools, read directly from the server on our last check. Among them: workyard_add_time_card_note, workyard_approve_time_card, workyard_get_organization, workyard_get_project, workyard_get_time_card, workyard_list_active_geofences and 6 more. The full list with descriptions is on this page — we take it from the server itself via tools/list, not from a README. How MCP servers expose tools in the first place →
Is Workyard MCP by usefulapi working right now?
We send a real MCP handshake every 15 minutes. Over the last 24 hours 91 of 91 checks got a reply (100.0%), average response time 172 ms. The bar chart above shows every period we have measured.
How do I connect Workyard MCP by usefulapi?
Copy the ready config from this page. We generate it for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex, Cursor and VS Code, each in the form that client actually reads. It is a remote server, so there is nothing to install — the client connects to the address.
Does Workyard MCP by usefulapi need an API key?
No. Workyard MCP by usefulapi completed a full MCP handshake with us as an anonymous client and listed its tools without asking for anything. All 12 of them are readable on this page. This is what we observed, not what the docs claim.
How fast is Workyard MCP by usefulapi?
It answers our handshake in 172 ms on average, which is faster than 78% of all working MCP servers we measure. That puts it in the quick quarter of the ecosystem. The comparison comes from our own checks across the whole registry, every 15 minutes.
Is Workyard MCP by usefulapi open source?
The code is open source: it is published under the MIT licence, written in JavaScript, 1 stars on GitHub and 1 open issue. The licence covers the code in the repository, not the hosted service at workyard.usefulapi.io, which runs on its operator's own terms.
