Nothing serious here today

Today is the operative word: we check UnblockingAPI every 15 minutes and re-read its code on every release. Watch it and you find out the day that stops being true.

build
get_build_guide
Read this before writing code that uses UnblockingAPI - an app, script, scheduled job or backend that fetches web pages (a rank tracker, a listings aggregator, a price monitor, …). Returns the REST API reference for calling it with plain HTTP (no SDK), how to keep the key server-side on platforms like Lovable, Replit and Next.js, how to use templates, and complete recipes. Free. Start with topic 'api', then the recipe that fits.
templates
find_templates
Find published templates that parse a site into structured JSON instead of HTML. Pass the url you are about to fetch to see whether one already covers it — do this before writing your own extraction for a well-known site. Also searches by keyword or category. Each result shows the fields it returns and an example call; pass its reference as unblock_fetch's template argument. Free — no credit is charged.
unblock
unblock_fetch
Fetch a web page through UnblockingAPI's rotating residential proxies and a real browser. Useful for pages a plain HTTP fetch can't read: pages that need JavaScript, refuse automated requests, or show different content by country. Returns the page as Markdown (or cleaned HTML with format: 'html'); select narrows it to the part you need. If content is missing, fetch again with scroll_steps or wait_for. Picks the mode itself by default: a plain HTTP fetch first, and a real browser when the site blocks it or needs JavaScript. Pass a template reference to get structured JSON instead of HTML — call find_templates with the url first to see whether one exists. Costs 1 credit per successful fetch; failures are free.

UnblockingAPI — questions

Answers built from our own checks of this server.

What can UnblockingAPI do?
It exposes 3 tools, read directly from the server on our last check. Among them: find_templates, get_build_guide, unblock_fetch. The full list with descriptions is on this page — we take it from the server itself via tools/list, not from a README. How MCP servers expose tools in the first place →
Is UnblockingAPI working right now?
We send a real MCP handshake every 15 minutes. Over the last 24 hours 91 of 91 checks got a reply (100.0%), average response time 197 ms. The bar chart above shows every period we have measured.
How do I connect UnblockingAPI?
Copy the ready config from this page. We generate it for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex, Cursor and VS Code, each in the form that client actually reads. It is a remote server, so there is nothing to install — the client connects to the address.
Does UnblockingAPI need an API key?
No. UnblockingAPI completed a full MCP handshake with us as an anonymous client and listed its tools without asking for anything. All 3 of them are readable on this page. This is what we observed, not what the docs claim.
How fast is UnblockingAPI?
It answers our handshake in 197 ms on average, which is faster than 69% of all working MCP servers we measure. The comparison comes from our own checks across the whole registry, every 15 minutes.
How many people use UnblockingAPI?
The npm package @unblockingapi/mcp was installed 92 times in the last week. Week over week that is -51%. We show installs rather than GitHub stars on purpose: a star is a bookmark, an install is someone actually running it.
Is UnblockingAPI open source?
The code is open source: it is published under the MIT licence, written in TypeScript, 2 stars on GitHub and 2 open issues. The licence covers the code in the repository, not the hosted service at mcp.unblockingapi.com, which runs on its operator's own terms.
