bond
get_i_bond_rate_for_issue_date
For an I bond bought in a given month: its fixed rate, the composite rate it earns in the current (or given) 6-month period, the months its rate changes, whether it can be cashed and the penalty, and every rate period since issue. Computed from the TreasuryDirect rate chart effective November 1, 2026.
get_i_bond_rate_history
Fixed rate for new bonds, semiannual inflation rate and composite rate for every May and November announcement since September 1998, newest first, from the TreasuryDirect rate chart.
calculate
calculate_i_bond_composite_rate
Apply the Treasury formula fixed + 2 x semiannual inflation + fixed x semiannual inflation, rounded to 0.01 percent with a floor of zero. Use it for rate predictions.
current
get_current_i_bond_rate
Current Series I savings bond composite rate, fixed rate and semiannual inflation rate for new purchases, read at call time from the TreasuryDirect "I bonds interest rates" page with the built-in rate chart as fallback. November 2026 to April 2027: 5.51 percent with a 1.40 percent fixed rate. Also returns the next announcement date and the $10,000 limit, 12-month hold and 3-month penalty rules.
estimate
estimate_i_bond_value
Estimate what I bonds are worth for an issue month and purchase amount at the start of a month: value with all interest and the redemption value after the 3-month penalty for bonds under 5 years. Uses semiannual compounding per $25 with the TreasuryDirect rates. An estimate; Treasury values can differ by cents.

I Bond Rate MCP — questions

Answers built from our own checks of this server.

What can I Bond Rate MCP do?
It exposes 5 tools, read directly from the server on our last check. Among them: calculate_i_bond_composite_rate, estimate_i_bond_value, get_current_i_bond_rate, get_i_bond_rate_for_issue_date, get_i_bond_rate_history. The full list with descriptions is on this page — we take it from the server itself via tools/list, not from a README. How MCP servers expose tools in the first place →
Is I Bond Rate MCP working right now?
We send a real MCP handshake every 15 minutes. Over the last 24 hours 92 of 92 checks got a reply (100.0%), average response time 233 ms. The bar chart above shows every period we have measured.
How do I connect I Bond Rate MCP?
Copy the ready config from this page. We generate it for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex, Cursor and VS Code, each in the form that client actually reads. It is a remote server, so there is nothing to install — the client connects to the address.
Does I Bond Rate MCP need an API key?
No. I Bond Rate MCP completed a full MCP handshake with us as an anonymous client and listed its tools without asking for anything. All 5 of them are readable on this page. This is what we observed, not what the docs claim.
How fast is I Bond Rate MCP?
It answers our handshake in 233 ms on average, which is faster than 61% of all working MCP servers we measure. The comparison comes from our own checks across the whole registry, every 15 minutes.
Is I Bond Rate MCP open source?
The code is open source: it is published under the MIT licence, written in TypeScript and 0 stars on GitHub. The licence covers the code in the repository, not the hosted service at i-bond-rate-mcp.lipmichal.workers.dev, which runs on its operator's own terms.
