heating
get_heating_fuel_price_history
EIA weekly residential heating oil or propane prices per gallon for the US or a surveyed state between two dates (series since 1990 for most areas), with high, low and average. Default is the last 52 weeks.
get_heating_oil_propane_prices
Latest EIA weekly average residential price per gallon (taxes included) of heating oil and propane for the US, an EIA region or a surveyed state, read at call time from eia.gov: price, change from last week, the last five survey weeks, the price a year ago and the next release date. Heating oil is surveyed in Northeast and Midwest states; propane in about 40 states. Uncovered states return the covered list.
estimate
estimate_heating_fuel_cost
Cost of a heating oil or propane delivery (gallons times this week's EIA average for the state, or a given price), the cost per million Btu, and a comparison of heating oil and propane per million Btu at the same area's averages. Optionally add your electricity rate (cents per kWh) or natural gas rate (dollars per therm) to compare. Uses EIA heat contents.

Heating Oil and Propane Prices MCP — questions

Answers built from our own checks of this server.

What can Heating Oil and Propane Prices MCP do?
It exposes 3 tools, read directly from the server on our last check. Among them: estimate_heating_fuel_cost, get_heating_fuel_price_history, get_heating_oil_propane_prices. The full list with descriptions is on this page — we take it from the server itself via tools/list, not from a README. How MCP servers expose tools in the first place →
Is Heating Oil and Propane Prices MCP working right now?
We send a real MCP handshake every 15 minutes. Over the last 24 hours 91 of 91 checks got a reply (100.0%), average response time 223 ms. The bar chart above shows every period we have measured.
How do I connect Heating Oil and Propane Prices MCP?
Copy the ready config from this page. We generate it for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex, Cursor and VS Code, each in the form that client actually reads. It is a remote server, so there is nothing to install — the client connects to the address.
Does Heating Oil and Propane Prices MCP need an API key?
No. Heating Oil and Propane Prices MCP completed a full MCP handshake with us as an anonymous client and listed its tools without asking for anything. All 3 of them are readable on this page. This is what we observed, not what the docs claim.
How fast is Heating Oil and Propane Prices MCP?
It answers our handshake in 223 ms on average, which is faster than 61% of all working MCP servers we measure. The comparison comes from our own checks across the whole registry, every 15 minutes.
Is Heating Oil and Propane Prices MCP open source?
The code is open source: it is published under the MIT licence, written in TypeScript and 0 stars on GitHub. The licence covers the code in the repository, not the hosted service at heating-oil-propane-prices-mcp.lipmichal.workers.dev, which runs on its operator's own terms.
