Known slugs (19): pregnancy, newborn, toddler, preschool, school-age, adolescence, parenting-science, baby-naming, ….
magazine
get_magazine_piece
Returns one published magazine piece's question, per-writer sections, and editor's coda — the same content the human page renders, ungated. Known slugs (4): the-whole-room--i-got-a-prenatal-screening-result-that-came, the-whole-room--my-baby-won-t-nap-anywhere-except-on, the-whole-room--four-year-old-lying, the-whole-room--my-toddler-had-a-full-blown-meltdown-on.

The Family Almanac — parenting library, guide metadata, and magazine — questions

Answers built from our own checks of this server.

What can The Family Almanac — parenting library, guide metadata, and magazine do?
It exposes 5 tools, read directly from the server on our last check. Among them: get_guide, get_library_work, get_magazine_piece, list_family_almanac_feeds, search_library. The full list with descriptions is on this page — we take it from the server itself via tools/list, not from a README. How MCP servers expose tools in the first place →
Is The Family Almanac — parenting library, guide metadata, and magazine working right now?
We send a real MCP handshake every 15 minutes. Over the last 24 hours 5 of 92 checks got a reply (5.4%), average response time 351 ms. The bar chart above shows every period we have measured.
Did The Family Almanac — parenting library, guide metadata, and magazine ever remove tools?
Yes. get_membership_offer is no longer exposed — we recorded the date each one disappeared. A tool vanishing usually means a breaking change for anything that depended on it.
The registry lists The Family Almanac — parenting library, guide metadata, and magazine as active — why does it not respond?
The official MCP registry stores what the author submitted; it does not verify that the server still runs. We check the endpoint ourselves, and this one does not answer. Catalogues that copy the registry without checking will show it as working.
How do I connect The Family Almanac — parenting library, guide metadata, and magazine?
Copy the ready config from this page. We generate it for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex, Cursor and VS Code, each in the form that client actually reads. It is a remote server, so there is nothing to install — the client connects to the address.
Does The Family Almanac — parenting library, guide metadata, and magazine need an API key?
No. The Family Almanac — parenting library, guide metadata, and magazine completed a full MCP handshake with us as an anonymous client and listed its tools without asking for anything. All 5 of them are readable on this page. This is what we observed, not what the docs claim.
How fast is The Family Almanac — parenting library, guide metadata, and magazine?
It answers our handshake in 351 ms on average, which is faster than 38% of all working MCP servers we measure. The comparison comes from our own checks across the whole registry, every 15 minutes.
