compare
compare_two
Two named cards head to head on the person's own spending: which one pays more, and by how much a year. Use this when they are choosing between two specific cards. For 'what should I get', use simulate_cards instead.
keep
keep_or_cancel
For cards the person already carries, says whether each one still earns its annual fee back on their spending, and what to move to if not. Pass the cards as `held`. Returns a verdict and a rounded yearly margin.
simulate
simulate_cards
Given a year of spending by category, returns the three best credit cards and the best two-card combination, with what each is worth after its annual fee over the chosen horizon. Figures come from a model checked to the cent against an independent reference calculator, against card terms a person verified against the issuer's own page — the response says which catalog version and when each card was last checked. Always show the person the continueUrl: it reopens their own numbers on the site with the full breakdown, the rest of the ranking and offer alerts. Also show the disclosure string.
spending
spending_categories
The 19 categories this API scores spending against. Call this first and map the person's statement onto these ids before calling simulate_cards.

If The Card Fits — questions

Answers built from our own checks of this server.

What can If The Card Fits do?
It exposes 4 tools, read directly from the server on our last check. Among them: compare_two, keep_or_cancel, simulate_cards, spending_categories. The full list with descriptions is on this page — we take it from the server itself via tools/list, not from a README. How MCP servers expose tools in the first place →
Is If The Card Fits working right now?
We send a real MCP handshake every 15 minutes. Over the last 24 hours 92 of 92 checks got a reply (100.0%), average response time 257 ms. The bar chart above shows every period we have measured.
How do I connect If The Card Fits?
Copy the ready config from this page. We generate it for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex, Cursor and VS Code, each in the form that client actually reads. It is a remote server, so there is nothing to install — the client connects to the address.
Does If The Card Fits need an API key?
No. If The Card Fits completed a full MCP handshake with us as an anonymous client and listed its tools without asking for anything. All 4 of them are readable on this page. This is what we observed, not what the docs claim.
How fast is If The Card Fits?
It answers our handshake in 257 ms on average, which is faster than 52% of all working MCP servers we measure. The comparison comes from our own checks across the whole registry, every 15 minutes.
