Nothing serious here today

Today is the operative word: we check Shapesoda every 15 minutes and re-read its code on every release. Watch it and you find out the day that stops being true.

Available tools 5

Read directly from the server with tools/list, grouped by what they act on. If a tool disappears, we record the date.

open
open_editor
Use this when the user wants to vectorize an image but you cannot pass the image to vectorize (no image, upload_id or exact base64 bytes available), including when the user attached the image in Claude.ai: opens the Shapesoda window, where the user picks the file, sees the vector result and adjusts it. Does not vectorize by itself and uses no credits. Do not use for generating new images.
revectorize
revectorize
Re-vectorizes a stored result (result_id and token from vectorize) with other settings, free for 24 hours after the first vectorization. Used by the Shapesoda window.
upload
create_upload
Creates a one-time upload link for a local image file (valid 10 minutes). Upload the file with the returned curl command, then pass upload_id to vectorize. Only for agents whose terminal can reach shapesoda.com (Claude Code, Cursor and similar); in Claude.ai and other chat apps the sandbox cannot upload there, so call open_editor instead.
usage
get_usage
Shows how many credits were used this month and how many remain.
vectorize
vectorize
Use this when the user wants to convert a raster image (logo, icon, illustration, scan, screenshot; PNG, JPEG, WebP, BMP, GIF, TIFF) into a vector: SVG, PDF, EPS, DXF or a re-rendered PNG. Pass the image in exactly one way: image (a file attached to the chat message, ChatGPT), upload_id (from create_upload) or image_base64 (≤2 MB, only exact file bytes you already have as text). If none of these is available, for example an image attached in Claude.ai, call open_editor instead. Returns a download link per format, valid 24 hours (or retention_days), and the SVG inline when small. Uses 1 credit for all formats; mode=test is free and watermarked; mode=preview is a free PNG up to 1 MP whose link buys the vectors later (format=svg, 1 credit). Do not use for generating new images, editing photos or upscaling.

Shapesoda — questions

Answers built from our own checks of this server.

What can Shapesoda do?
It exposes 5 tools, read directly from the server on our last check. Among them: create_upload, get_usage, open_editor, revectorize, vectorize. The full list with descriptions is on this page — we take it from the server itself via tools/list, not from a README. How MCP servers expose tools in the first place →
Is Shapesoda working right now?
We send a real MCP handshake every 15 minutes. Over the last 24 hours 92 of 92 checks got a reply (100.0%), average response time 187 ms. The bar chart above shows every period we have measured.
How do I connect Shapesoda?
Copy the ready config from this page — we generate it for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex, Cursor and VS Code, each with the file path that client actually reads. It is a remote server, so there is nothing to install — the client connects to the address.
Does Shapesoda need an API key?
No. Shapesoda completed a full MCP handshake with us as an anonymous client and listed its tools without asking for anything. All 5 of them are readable on this page. This is what we observed, not what the docs claim.
How fast is Shapesoda?
It answers our handshake in 187 ms on average, which is faster than 65% of all working MCP servers we measure. The comparison comes from our own checks across the whole registry, every 15 minutes.
