Available tools 5

Read directly from the server with tools/list, grouped by what they act on. If a tool disappears, we record the date.

custom
create_custom_calendar
Build a subscribable calendar of upcoming Bay Area events from the user's interests. Returns a link that opens the calendar on SFomo (open_on_sfomo; give the user this first), subscribe links (Google Calendar, Apple/Outlook webcal, plain .ics) and a preview. The calendar refreshes itself every few hours, so new matching events keep appearing. An event is included if it matches ANY interest and no exclude term. Nothing is stored by SFomo: the interests are encoded in the link itself. Interview the user first (see the custom_calendar prompt), check matches with search_events, and call this again to adjust.
event
get_event
Look up one upcoming event by its stable `id` (as returned by search_events / list_upcoming), with its source link and first_seen / last_seen / last_fetched dates.
events
search_events
Search upcoming Bay Area events (dance, AI, music, arts, food, sports, comedy, fun, exercise, volunteer, dating). All words in `query` must match title/location/performers/organizer/tags. Dates are local (America/Los_Angeles), YYYY-MM-DD.
performer
find_performer
Find a performer, band, comedian or act in Bay Area by name (words in `query` must all match; case-insensitive) and get their upcoming events, top venues, genres or topics and the platforms that list them. Names come only from public event listings; there are no contact details. Use it for "when is <band> playing" or "who plays at <venue>". Use get_event with an id for one event's full listing.
upcoming
list_upcoming
List the next N days of events, optionally for one category, topic or place. `by_day` counts every match per date; when there are more than `limit`, the rows shown are spread across the days (earliest first within each day), so narrow with category, topic or place, or page a single day with search_events from/to.

SFomo: Bay Area events — questions

Answers built from our own checks of this server.

What can SFomo: Bay Area events do?
It exposes 5 tools, read directly from the server on our last check. Among them: create_custom_calendar, find_performer, get_event, list_upcoming, search_events. The full list with descriptions is on this page — we take it from the server itself via tools/list, not from a README. How MCP servers expose tools in the first place →
Is SFomo: Bay Area events working right now?
We send a real MCP handshake every 15 minutes. Over the last 24 hours 92 of 92 checks got a reply (100.0%), average response time 153 ms. The bar chart above shows every period we have measured.
How do I connect SFomo: Bay Area events?
Copy the ready config from this page — we generate it for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex, Cursor and VS Code, each with the file path that client actually reads. It is a remote server, so there is nothing to install — the client connects to the address.
Does SFomo: Bay Area events need an API key?
No. SFomo: Bay Area events completed a full MCP handshake with us as an anonymous client and listed its tools without asking for anything. All 5 of them are readable on this page. This is what we observed, not what the docs claim.
How fast is SFomo: Bay Area events?
It answers our handshake in 153 ms on average, which is faster than 74% of all working MCP servers we measure. The comparison comes from our own checks across the whole registry, every 15 minutes.
