Nothing serious here today

Today is the operative word: we check QRX every 15 minutes and re-read its code on every release. Watch it and you find out the day that stops being true.

This one needs environment variables set before it will start: QRX_API_KEY (Your QRX API key (qrx_…) from https://qrx.codes/developers/keys. Needed to use the tools; without it the server starts and lists them.). The author declared them in the registry entry; get the values from the project itself.

This endpoint answered with an authorization challenge. The server is running, and it signs you in through your browser: there is no API key to paste.

Read directly from the server with tools/list, grouped by what they act on. If a tool disappears, we record the date.

account
get_account
Use this when the user asks how many QR codes they can still make today, when the daily count resets, or what their QRX account can do. Do not use it to make or list codes.
change
change_qr_code_destination
Use this when the user wants an existing link QR code to open a different web address. Printed copies follow at once. It only works for link codes, and only if the account’s plan allows changing destinations. Do not use it to make a new code.
code
get_qr_code
Use this when you have a QR code’s id (from generate_qr_code or list_qr_codes) and need its status or finished image. While the code is still being painted it waits up to `wait` seconds (25 by default) for it to finish before answering, so call it again if it is still processing. Do not use it to make a new code.
codes
list_qr_codes
Use this when the user asks about QR codes they already have, newest first, a page at a time (pass nextCursor as cursor for the next page). Do not use it to make a code.
generate
generate_qr_code
Use this when the user wants a new QR code that is also a picture: a scannable code painted into art from a description, that opens a link (or joins a Wi-Fi network, if the account’s plan includes Wi-Fi codes). It starts the code and answers at once with its id while the picture is painted, which usually takes under a minute; then call get_qr_code with the id to wait for the image. Do not use it to look at, list or change codes that already exist. Each code counts against the user’s QRX allowance.
profile
get_profile
Use this when you need to know which QRX account is connected, for example to confirm it with the user. Do not use it for limits; use get_account.
styles
list_styles
Use this when the user wants to choose a look for a new QR code; pass a style id to generate_qr_code. Do not use it to make a code.

QRX — questions

Answers built from our own checks of this server.

What can QRX do?
It exposes 7 tools, read directly from the server on our last check. Among them: change_qr_code_destination, generate_qr_code, get_account, get_profile, get_qr_code, list_qr_codes and 1 more. The full list with descriptions is on this page — we take it from the server itself via tools/list, not from a README. How MCP servers expose tools in the first place →
Is QRX working right now?
We send a real MCP handshake every 15 minutes. Over the last 24 hours 91 of 91 checks got a reply (100.0%), average response time 1103 ms. The bar chart above shows every period we have measured.
How do I connect QRX?
Copy the ready config from this page — we generate it for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex, Cursor and VS Code, each with the file path that client actually reads. It is a remote server, so there is nothing to install — the client connects to the address. You sign in through your browser once and the client keeps the session: no key to copy, and it refuses anonymous clients.
How do you sign in to QRX?
No API key is involved. QRX answers our knock with an OAuth challenge, so you authorise it once in your browser and the client keeps the session. That is also why we see no tool list: it will not describe itself to an anonymous client, and that is the server working as intended, not a fault.
How fast is QRX?
It answers our handshake in 1103 ms on average, which is faster than 5% of all working MCP servers we measure. That is on the slow side — worth knowing if the tool sits inside an interactive loop. The comparison comes from our own checks across the whole registry, every 15 minutes.
How many people use QRX?
The npm package @qrxcodes/mcp was installed 394 times in the last week. We show installs rather than GitHub stars on purpose: a star is a bookmark, an install is someone actually running it.
Is QRX open source?
Yes — it is published under the MIT licence and 2 stars on GitHub. The source link is on this page, so you can read exactly what it does with your data before you connect it.
