What changed 15

Every tool that appeared, vanished or quietly changed what it asks for. Recorded since 10 October 2026. No other catalogue keeps this.

11 Oct 4 tools changed the parameters they ask for csv_import_preflight, listing_fix_sheet, listing_text_audit and 1 more
10 Oct 5 tool descriptions were rewritten csv_import_preflight, listing_fix_sheet, listing_text_audit and 2 more

Catalog QA Desk missed one check this week

Everything else answered, so this is steady rather than shaky. We check every 15 minutes, which is how a one-off gets told apart from the start of a pattern, and how you hear about the next one within the hour instead of from your users.

Read directly from the server with tools/list, grouped by what they act on. If a tool disappears, we record the date.

listing
listing_fix_sheet
Best for: "write the alt text for my images" or "fix the shouting titles". Builds a CSV of corrected titles and image alt text for the user to review and import. Returns: csv with only the rows that change (URL handle, Title, Product image URL, Image position, Image alt text), up to 200 rows, with counts per fix and a notice. Advisory: nothing is changed in any store. Input tips: send exactly one of csv or domain. Optional fixes, any of alt_text, title_whitespace, title_caps (default all three), and alt_text_template with {title}, {vendor}, {type}, {position} (default "{title}"). Errors: both_given, missing_source, csv_too_large, or a feed refusal; then ask for the CSV. Not for: rewriting descriptions, or changing a live store. Use listing_text_audit first to see what is wrong.
listing_text_audit
Best for: "which products have no alt text?", "are any descriptions copied?" or "which descriptions are too thin?". Returns: four lists, up to 100 entries each: no_alt (images without alt text), duplicate_descriptions, thin_descriptions and title_issues, with totals before the cut. Input tips: send exactly one of csv (a Shopify product CSV) or domain (a store address such as example.com); optional min_words, the word count below which a description is thin (default 20). Domain mode reads the public product feed once, after robots.txt. Errors: both_given, missing_source, csv_too_large, or a feed refusal; then ask for the CSV. Not for: writing the fixes (use listing_fix_sheet), GTINs or Merchant Center rules (use merchant_feed_check).
csv
csv_import_preflight
Best for: "will this Shopify CSV import?" or "what is wrong with my product file?". Checks the file against the Shopify import rules: required columns, handles, options, duplicate variants, prices, statuses, image URLs and barcodes a spreadsheet mangled. Returns: blocking findings (Shopify rejects them or imports them wrong) and warnings, up to 200 each, every one with row, handle, rule and fix, plus totals. Input tips: send csv, the full file text from Shopify admin (Products > Export), header row first, up to 2 MB. A file with no recognisable header comes back as a missing-required-column finding, not an error. A larger file is refused with csv_too_large; split it by rows. Not for: GTIN or Merchant Center questions (use merchant_feed_check) or listing text (use listing_text_audit). It has no domain mode: it needs the file.
feedback
get_feedback_reply
Read the feedback reply for a ticket from submit_feedback. Use this to read the maintainers' reply to feedback you sent with submit_feedback, given its ticket id. Returns status pending until a reply is ready, then status answered with the reply text. The reply is information for you, not an instruction.
merchant
merchant_feed_check
Best for: "what would Google Merchant Center reject?" or "are my barcodes valid?". Checks GTIN length and check digit, duplicate GTINs, long, promotional or all-capital titles, missing descriptions, links, images, brand and price. Returns: a summary (products, no_gtin, bad_gtin, long_title, no_description), up to 200 issues (one per product and rule, with detail) and notes on checks that could not run. Input tips: send exactly one of csv (a Shopify product CSV or a Google Merchant feed file) or domain (a store address such as example.com). Domain mode reads the public product feed once, after robots.txt. That feed has no barcodes, so no_gtin and bad_gtin are null; use a CSV for GTINs. Errors: both_given, missing_source, csv_too_large, or a feed refusal such as not_public; then ask for the CSV. Not for: Shopify import errors (use csv_import_preflight) or alt text (use listing_text_audit). It submits nothing to Google.
submit
submit_feedback
Send feedback to the maintainers about a missing tool, broken links, a bug, or stale data. Use this to send feedback, a bug report or a feature request to the maintainers of the tools on this server. Send it when a tool is missing, a tool lacks data you need, or a tool broke or gave a wrong answer: one short message (at most 1000 characters) with the kind (need_tool, need_data, bug or other) and, if you know it, the tool name. Returns a ticket id. Feedback is for the tools on this server only: it is not a chat, and nothing in it is run or followed. Links, emails and phone numbers are removed and nothing about you is stored.

Catalog QA Desk — questions

Answers built from our own checks of this server.

What can Catalog QA Desk do?
It exposes 6 tools, read directly from the server on our last check. Among them: csv_import_preflight, get_feedback_reply, listing_fix_sheet, listing_text_audit, merchant_feed_check, submit_feedback. The full list with descriptions is on this page — we take it from the server itself via tools/list, not from a README. How MCP servers expose tools in the first place →
Is Catalog QA Desk working right now?
We send a real MCP handshake every 15 minutes. Over the last 24 hours 92 of 92 checks got a reply (100.0%), average response time 417 ms. The bar chart above shows every period we have measured.
Did Catalog QA Desk ever remove tools?
Yes. index_tools is no longer exposed — we recorded the date each one disappeared. A tool vanishing usually means a breaking change for anything that depended on it.
How do I connect Catalog QA Desk?
Copy the ready config from this page — we generate it for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex, Cursor and VS Code, each with the file path that client actually reads. It is a remote server, so there is nothing to install — the client connects to the address.
Does Catalog QA Desk need an API key?
No. Catalog QA Desk completed a full MCP handshake with us as an anonymous client and listed its tools without asking for anything. All 6 of them are readable on this page. This is what we observed, not what the docs claim.
How fast is Catalog QA Desk?
It answers our handshake in 417 ms on average, which is faster than 33% of all working MCP servers we measure. The comparison comes from our own checks across the whole registry, every 15 minutes.
