Available tools 3

Read directly from the server with tools/list, grouped by what they act on. If a tool disappears, we record the date.

move
check_move
Check whether the next word correctly follows the previous word in shiritori: it must start with the previous word's last kana, it loses if it ends in ん or was already used. Also tells whether each word is in the dictionary and what the next word must start with.
suggest
suggest_next
Pick random words that can follow the previous word (or start with a given kana), excluding words already used and, by default, words ending in ん. pool "everyday" (default) uses hand-picked everyday words, "common" adds common dictionary words, "all" uses the whole dictionary.
word
check_word
Look up a word: is it in the dictionary, its reading, its first and last kana under shiritori rules (ー and small kana handled), whether it ends in ん, and which kana the next word must start with.

Shiritori Dictionary (Japanese) — questions

Answers built from our own checks of this server.

What can Shiritori Dictionary (Japanese) do?
It exposes 3 tools, read directly from the server on our last check. Among them: check_move, check_word, suggest_next. The full list with descriptions is on this page — we take it from the server itself via tools/list, not from a README. How MCP servers expose tools in the first place →
Is Shiritori Dictionary (Japanese) working right now?
We send a real MCP handshake every 15 minutes. Over the last 24 hours 88 of 88 checks got a reply (100.0%), average response time 433 ms. The bar chart above shows every period we have measured.
How do I connect Shiritori Dictionary (Japanese)?
Copy the ready config from this page — we generate it for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex, Cursor and VS Code, each with the file path that client actually reads. It is a remote server, so there is nothing to install — the client connects to the address.
Does Shiritori Dictionary (Japanese) need an API key?
No. Shiritori Dictionary (Japanese) completed a full MCP handshake with us as an anonymous client and listed its tools without asking for anything. All 3 of them are readable on this page. This is what we observed, not what the docs claim.
How fast is Shiritori Dictionary (Japanese)?
It answers our handshake in 433 ms on average, which is faster than 28% of all working MCP servers we measure. The comparison comes from our own checks across the whole registry, every 15 minutes.
