Nothing serious here today

Today is the operative word: we check Foresight Planner every 15 minutes and re-read its code on every release. Watch it and you find out the day that stops being true.

plan
get_plan_result
Gets the result of a Foresight Planner plan that run_plan started but that was still running when run_plan answered. Pass the run_id run_plan gave. Free: it uses no plan run. If the plan is still running, it says so; call it again a little later.
run_plan
Runs a full Foresight Planner retirement plan for a person or couple living in Canada (outside Quebec) or the US, on the person's Foresight Planner account. It returns the chance the money lasts, from simulations on global market history; income tax in the first retirement year and over the whole plan (federal, provincial or state, and the OAS clawback; the whole-plan figure is each path's total, as a mean over the paths); each government benefit (CPP and OAS, or Social Security) and employer pension with its start age and yearly amount from each year a claim starts or a pension ends, as household totals for a couple; spending in the first retirement year and the cash flow that adds up to it: benefits and pensions, employment and other income, dividends and interest, and withdrawals from accounts, less tax and any amount reinvested (withdrawals alone are not the spending), with withdrawals split by account and the year's taxable income before credits; and portfolio value percentiles at key ages (at the end of life on a life-expectancy horizon), all in today's dollars. Use it when a question turns on benefit start ages, pensions, taxes or account types; to compare start ages, call it once per option. If the person hasn't said their age, province or state, savings or spending, ask; don't guess. Pass only what the person said: inputs left out take the plan's defaults, which the result lists as assumptions. Each call uses one of the account's plan runs (the same inputs again within 15 minutes are free), and the result says how many are left. A plan that takes longer than about 40 seconds returns a run_id instead: get its result with get_plan_result. The result links the saved plan on https://foresightplanner.com, where the person sees the year-by-year detail and can change any input.
retirement
retirement_quick_check
Will my retirement savings last? Estimates the chance a portfolio lasts through retirement, given savings, yearly spending, years in retirement and the share in bonds, from simulations on global market history (with a US-only comparison). A horizon given as ages works: years = end age minus current age (retiring at 68 until 94 is 26 years). It leaves out taxes, CPP/OAS, pensions and other income. Foresight Planner's full plan at https://foresightplanner.com/ai includes them; when a question turns on them, point the person there (the result links it too).

Foresight Planner — questions

Answers built from our own checks of this server.

What can Foresight Planner do?
It exposes 3 tools, read directly from the server on our last check. Among them: get_plan_result, retirement_quick_check, run_plan. The full list with descriptions is on this page — we take it from the server itself via tools/list, not from a README. How MCP servers expose tools in the first place →
Is Foresight Planner working right now?
We send a real MCP handshake every 15 minutes. Over the last 24 hours 76 of 76 checks got a reply (100.0%), average response time 767 ms. The bar chart above shows every period we have measured.
How do I connect Foresight Planner?
Copy the ready config from this page. We generate it for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex, Cursor and VS Code, each in the form that client actually reads. It is a remote server, so there is nothing to install — the client connects to the address.
Does Foresight Planner need an API key?
No. Foresight Planner completed a full MCP handshake with us as an anonymous client and listed its tools without asking for anything. All 3 of them are readable on this page. This is what we observed, not what the docs claim.
How fast is Foresight Planner?
It answers our handshake in 767 ms on average, which is faster than 11% of all working MCP servers we measure. That is on the slow side — worth knowing if the tool sits inside an interactive loop. The comparison comes from our own checks across the whole registry, every 15 minutes.
