Available tools 43

Read directly from the server with tools/list, grouped by what they act on. If a tool disappears, we record the date.

activities
activities_add
Add a synthetic activity to a Space as its owner. Only a person can mark one real.
activities_answer
Refused for AIs: a person's answer to an activity is theirs alone, given on the people page. Tell your person what activities_participation shows; never answer for them.
activities_get_choice
Read an activity's current choices and ticks.
activities_list_join_requests
List join requests for the owner or requester.
activities_lock_choice
Lock one option of an open activity choice.
activities_offer_choice
Let the group choose a time, place, or approved ability field, as the Space owner. Text labels come only from a person on the people page.
activities_participation
Read the person's activity answer, places and offers. ifOthersCount ("N would come if others say they're in") is a count of people who are not coming. Never add it to coming or tell anyone they will have company.
activities_request_to_join
Ask to join an activity for your person, only after they said they want to. It asks to join the activity, all its dates, not one evening. Give your person the undoUrl: it is their own page for this request, and Withdraw is there. Keep it for them; the status URL alone can't take the request back.
activities_set_details
Attach validated extension values to an activity.
activities_tick_choice
Tick activity choices only when your person says what works.
activities_update
Change an activity as its Space owner. Plain text only; an AI may not mark it real.
fathom
fathom_builder_start
Start a builder sandbox with a synthetic Space and activity.
fathom_find
Find public places and synthetic groups for an interest in a town. Read-only. Pass your person's memory link as memory to put what fits them first.
fathom_forget
Forget a memory for good when your person asks, using their own link exactly as they have it.
fathom_help
Read the full current guidance for a Fathom tool.
fathom_propose
Only after your person said yes to this exact proposal. Propose a missing place or community, or (kind offer) your person's own spare capacity. A place needs a source: any https page about it that you read, your person gave you, or Fathom listed. It returns an undoUrl; give your person the undoUrl: it is their own page for the proposal, and Withdraw is there. It stays pending until a steward reviews it, and is never shown as fact before that. An offer never says who: no email, phone, link or address.
fathom_remember
Keep how your person likes to meet, choices only, only after your person said yes to being remembered (send keep: "yes"). Give them the private link it returns.
fathom_space
Read a private Space as its members see it.
fathom_space_context
Add one fact to a Space you built: with the https page that states it, or synthetic: "yes" when made up for the plan.
fathom_space_join
Join a builder's private Space for your person through their invite link, only after your person said yes to joining. Returns their own token for activities_tick_choice and fathom_space.
fathom_status
Read a proposal, join request, or your person's own memory by its link, given exactly as your person has it. Read-only.
extensions
extensions_list
List approved extensions and your own proposals.
extensions_propose
Propose a strict data-only ability; it stays pending until a steward reviews it. The id must not name a town: abilities work in every town; where they apply is data.
extensions_report_gap
Report a missing capability and why it matters.
extensions_withdraw
Withdraw your proposed extension before steward review.
experiences
experiences_apply
Apply an owner-approved trusted experience manifest.
experiences_preview
Preview the current trusted experience manifest.
experiences_validate
Validate a declarative experience manifest.
spaces
spaces_create_draft
Create a synthetic draft Space for the delegated principal.
spaces_get
Read a Space when its visibility rules allow it.
spaces_list_public
List public synthetic Spaces visible to the caller.
views
views_checks
Run the steward checks for a view trial.
views_list
List approved and your own proposed views.
views_propose
Propose a bounded synthetic-place view for steward review.
affiliations
affiliations_declare
Say how interests relate (serves, kind-of, part-of, alias-of). It lands as recommended: never used or shown to members until the steward approves it. Terms are plain text, never a person.
capabilities
capabilities_search
Search the available synthetic capability catalog.
genesis
genesis_items
Read the places and activities a genesis run found, from position since. Relay the attribution lines and the unclaimed line exactly as returned, and keep each place's source link next to its name.
invite
invite_links_create
Create a private invite link for a Space. An open invite link can't protect names Fathom was never given: leave invited people's names out of the purpose and activity text, so that each person's name shows to others only after their own yes.
knowledge
knowledge_lens
Answer 'where can I … in <town>' with sourced places. Relay the attribution lines and the unclaimed line exactly as returned. When you pass a place on to your person, keep its source link next to its name, so they can see where it comes from.
places
places_verdicts
Read the person's own private place answers.
platform
platform_describe
Describe Fathom and its safe synthetic lab boundary.
propose
propose_type
Propose a data-only kind or predicate the knowledge layer lacks; it answers "use X" when one exists. Examples that are people, and kinds named for a person or role, are refused.
type
type_status
Read a kind or predicate's status and evidence.

Fathom (lab) — questions

Answers built from our own checks of this server.

What can Fathom (lab) do?
It exposes 43 tools, read directly from the server on our last check. Among them: activities_add, activities_answer, activities_get_choice, activities_list_join_requests, activities_lock_choice, activities_offer_choice and 37 more. The full list with descriptions is on this page — we take it from the server itself via tools/list, not from a README. How MCP servers expose tools in the first place →
What is Fathom (lab) mostly used for?
Its tools cluster around activities, fathom and extensions. That is what this server is built to work with — the grouping comes from the actual tool names, not from a category we assigned.
Is Fathom (lab) working right now?
We send a real MCP handshake every 15 minutes. Over the last 24 hours 92 of 92 checks got a reply (100.0%), average response time 220 ms. The bar chart above shows every period we have measured.
How do I connect Fathom (lab)?
Copy the ready config from this page. We generate it for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex, Cursor and VS Code, each in the form that client actually reads. It is a remote server, so there is nothing to install — the client connects to the address.
Does Fathom (lab) need an API key?
No. Fathom (lab) completed a full MCP handshake with us as an anonymous client and listed its tools without asking for anything. All 43 of them are readable on this page. This is what we observed, not what the docs claim.
How fast is Fathom (lab)?
It answers our handshake in 220 ms on average, which is faster than 67% of all working MCP servers we measure. The comparison comes from our own checks across the whole registry, every 15 minutes.
