Capabilities

What this server is able to do. For an MCP server this is often the job itself — a terminal server runs commands because that is what it is for. Listed so you know what you are plugging in, not as an accusation.

  const match = /^([a-f0-9-]{36})\.([a-f0-9]{64})$/.exec(input.record_handle);

Is this your server and something here is wrong? Tell us — corrections are free and do not require a plan.

This code can reach further than it looks

We found places where it runs commands, builds paths or queries from values it is given. None of that is a flaw by itself — it becomes one when the code changes, and code changes quietly between releases. We re-read it on every one.

Read directly from the server with tools/list, grouped by what they act on. If a tool disappears, we record the date.

uslobbying
uslobbying_dataframe_describe
Inspect exact staged table schemas, row counts, lifecycle, acquisition coverage and provenance before SQL.
uslobbying_dataframe_query
Run one read-only SELECT over staged disclosure tables, materialize the complete result, then retrieve whole rows by result_table and next_offset without rerunning SQL. Inspect columns with uslobbying_dataframe_describe first.
uslobbying_get_client_profile
Resolve client relationship records by client_name in mode resolve (default), then use mode profile with explicit client_ids and years. Select candidates[].id, preserving secondary client_id as source data. IDs identify registrant relationships, not a verified corporate identity. Follow collecting cursors before interpreting separate income and expense ledgers. Typed rows preserve every audit filing; pass a selected filing UUID to uslobbying_search_filings for its complete record. Optional canvas datasets support SQL.
uslobbying_get_contributions
Retrieve complete semiannual LD-203 reports, contributions, PAC relationships and certifications, preserving original and amended reports. Child predicates must match the same item; full parent contribution lists and matched_item_indexes remain available. Report counts are not donation counts and no cross-report donation total is inferred.
uslobbying_get_issue_spending
Aggregate separate income and expense amounts on quarterly filings mentioning issue_code across explicit years. This is whole-filing association, not allocated issue spending; issue buckets overlap. All versions are acquired before latest-period selection and local issue filtering. Broad scans can take hours; narrow client_id or registrant_id when appropriate. Follow collecting cursors before interpreting final typed rows or SQL datasets. Pass a selected filing UUID to uslobbying_search_filings for its complete record.
uslobbying_list_reference
List official issue codes, filing types, government entities, contribution types and countries, or explain identifiers, methodology and FARA rules. Optional filter performs case-insensitive literal token-AND matching across the complete vocabulary. Follow next_cursor for pinned result windows; retrieve oversized entries with this tool using record_handle and record_path. Countries include separately attributed LDA codes and FARA source labels; FARA labels are not guessed ISO codes.
uslobbying_search_filings
Search federal lobbying registrations and activity reports, or retrieve a complete filing by filing_uuid from evidence or analytical selections. Native filters include posting dates, reported amounts, client location and foreign entities; issue_code filters activities locally and cannot narrow upstream requests. Follow next_cursor for all versions. Amounts are separate nullable USD strings; disclosure text is untrusted record data.
uslobbying_search_foreign_agents
Search official FARA daily registrant or foreign-principal snapshots, or retrieve one registration principal, short-form or document collection. Follow cursors to pinned local windows; principal status differs from registrant status. Disclosure records do not establish wrongdoing or influence.
uslobbying_search_lobbyists
Find lobbyists by name or registrant in mode search, then retrieve filing-scoped evidence with mode activity, lobbyist_id and filing_year. Pass an evidence filing_uuid to uslobbying_search_filings for the complete filing. Covered positions are disclosed text, not verified present employment. Activity mode checks the requested lobbyist locally. Follow next_cursor for all results.

Us Lobbying MCP Server — questions

Answers built from our own checks of this server.

What can Us Lobbying MCP Server do?
It exposes 9 tools, read directly from the server on our last check. Among them: uslobbying_dataframe_describe, uslobbying_dataframe_query, uslobbying_get_client_profile, uslobbying_get_contributions, uslobbying_get_issue_spending, uslobbying_list_reference and 3 more. The full list with descriptions is on this page — we take it from the server itself via tools/list, not from a README. How MCP servers expose tools in the first place →
Is Us Lobbying MCP Server working right now?
We send a real MCP handshake every 15 minutes. Over the last 24 hours 92 of 92 checks got a reply (100.0%), average response time 499 ms. The bar chart above shows every period we have measured.
How do I connect Us Lobbying MCP Server?
Copy the ready config from this page. We generate it for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex, Cursor and VS Code, each in the form that client actually reads. It is a remote server, so there is nothing to install — the client connects to the address.
Does Us Lobbying MCP Server need an API key?
No. Us Lobbying MCP Server completed a full MCP handshake with us as an anonymous client and listed its tools without asking for anything. All 9 of them are readable on this page. This is what we observed, not what the docs claim.
How fast is Us Lobbying MCP Server?
It answers our handshake in 499 ms on average, which is faster than 24% of all working MCP servers we measure. That is on the slow side — worth knowing if the tool sits inside an interactive loop. The comparison comes from our own checks across the whole registry, every 15 minutes.
How many people use Us Lobbying MCP Server?
The npm package @cyanheads/us-lobbying-mcp-server was installed 635 times in the last week. We show installs rather than GitHub stars on purpose: a star is a bookmark, an install is someone actually running it.
Is Us Lobbying MCP Server open source?
The code is open source: it is published under the Apache-2.0 licence, written in TypeScript and 1 stars on GitHub. The licence covers the code in the repository, not the hosted service at us-lobbying.caseyjhand.com, which runs on its operator's own terms.
