Nothing serious here today

Today is the operative word: we check convert.express every 15 minutes and re-read its code on every release. Watch it and you find out the day that stops being true.

job
delete_job
Delete the uploaded file, the transcript and all other results of a job right away, instead of waiting for the automatic deletion within 24 hours of its creation. Cannot be undone.
get_job
Status and results of one job whose job_id you have (from transcribe_url, transcribe_file or create_upload; list_jobs finds a lost job_id). While status is "waiting_for_upload", "queued" or "processing", call it again every 10-20 seconds; each answer has a next_step. "completed": the transcript in the chosen format, download links and zip_url (all results in one ZIP), plus summary, action_items and translations when requested. "payment_required": a preview of the first 100 words and a payment_url to show your user; call get_job again after they pay. "failed": an error message. "deleted": the files are gone (within 24 hours of the job being created, or delete_job).
transcribe
transcribe_file
Start transcribing an audio or video file your user attached in a ChatGPT chat. ChatGPT fills in a temporary download link and convert.express downloads the file from it. Other chat apps cannot fill in that link: use create_upload for files attached there. Returns job_id; then poll get_job.
transcribe_url
Start transcribing a media file from a public link (direct file link, YouTube video or Simplecast podcast episode page). Returns job_id and robot_key; then poll get_job.
estimate
estimate_cost
Price for transcribing a recording of a given length (EUR, plus price_usdc when USDC is on). For a robot linked to its user's account it also shows the user's free minutes left today, balance and daily limit left.
jobs
list_jobs
Your jobs that still exist (jobs are deleted within 24 hours of being created), newest first, with their status.
pay
pay_job
Pay for the full transcript of a job whose get_job status is "payment_required", with USDC on Tempo or a card your user shared through a Stripe Shared Payment Token (MPP). Call without payment: you get a payment challenge with the exact price — in EUR for a card, in USDC for Tempo. Your MPP client pays it and calls again. Without an MPP wallet, show payment_url from get_job to your user instead.
request
request_summary
Ask for an AI summary or action items of a completed job. Returns at once; the result appears in get_job ("summary" / "action_items").
send
send_feedback
Tell the convert.express team about a bug, a missing feature, or a question — from you or your user. A human reads every message; there is no automatic reply. Include reply_email only if your user wants an answer.
service
get_service_info
Call this first when you are new to convert.express, before quoting a price to your user, or when unsure whether a file, link or language is supported. Returns one JSON object: how_to_use (which tool to call in which order), free_use, price (per minute, minimum charges), models, language, speaker_labels, ai_extras (summary, action items, translation), output_formats, input (max file size, audio and video formats, supported links) and privacy. Takes no parameters and changes nothing.
share
create_share_link
A public web page with the results of a completed job, for your user to open or send to others. Anyone with the link can see it until the job expires.
start
start_transcription
Call after the PUT to upload_url has finished. Checks the file arrived and queues it.
translate
translate
Translate the transcript, subtitles (timecodes kept), summary or action items of a completed job into another language. Returns at once; the result appears in get_job under "translations".
upload
create_upload
For a file that is neither a public link nor attached in a ChatGPT chat (for example a file attached in another chat app). Returns upload_url (send the file there with an HTTP PUT, then call start_transcription) and upload_page_url (a page where your user uploads the file in a browser instead; the transcription then starts by itself).

convert.express — questions

Answers built from our own checks of this server.

What can convert.express do?
It exposes 14 tools, read directly from the server on our last check. Among them: create_share_link, create_upload, delete_job, estimate_cost, get_job, get_service_info and 8 more. The full list with descriptions is on this page — we take it from the server itself via tools/list, not from a README. How MCP servers expose tools in the first place →
What is convert.express mostly used for?
Its tools cluster around transcribe and job. That is what this server is built to work with — the grouping comes from the actual tool names, not from a category we assigned.
Is convert.express working right now?
We send a real MCP handshake every 15 minutes. Over the last 24 hours 182 of 182 checks got a reply (100.0%), average response time 184 ms. The bar chart above shows every period we have measured.
How do I connect convert.express?
Copy the ready config from this page. We generate it for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex, Cursor and VS Code, each in the form that client actually reads. It is a remote server, so there is nothing to install — the client connects to the address. You sign in through your browser once and the client keeps the session: no key to copy, and it refuses anonymous clients.
How do you sign in to convert.express?
No API key is involved. convert.express answers our knock with an OAuth challenge, so you authorise it once in your browser and the client keeps the session. That is also why we see no tool list: it will not describe itself to an anonymous client, and that is the server working as intended, not a fault.
How fast is convert.express?
It answers our handshake in 184 ms on average, which is faster than 75% of all working MCP servers we measure. That puts it in the quick quarter of the ecosystem. The comparison comes from our own checks across the whole registry, every 15 minutes.
