Capabilities

What this server is able to do. For an MCP server this is often the job itself — a terminal server runs commands because that is what it is for. Listed so you know what you are plugging in, not as an accusation.

    updateFile(path.join(root, file), ROUTE_REGION_BEGIN, ROUTE_REGION_END, routeBody);
Runs an external command run-tests.js:300
    const child = spawn(process.execPath, [fileName], { cwd: ROOT, stdio: ['ignore', 'pipe', 'pipe'] });
Page executes code built at runtime mobile-bottom-search-playground.html:1036
    container.innerHTML = filtered.map(p => `

This code can reach further than it looks

We found places where it runs commands, builds paths or queries from values it is given. None of that is a flaw by itself — it becomes one when the code changes, and code changes quietly between releases. We re-read it on every one.

Available tools 5

Read directly from the server with tools/list, grouped by what they act on. If a tool disappears, we record the date.

pool
get_pool
Look up a single pool by its DefiLlama pool UUID, returning APY (base/reward breakdown), TVL, and anomaly / below-floor flags. Data is a daily snapshot of DefiLlama's pool feed.
get_pool_score
Retrieve the DeFi Score (0-100) with its band name (AAA to HIGH RISK; DeFi Garden's own model output, not a credit rating), each pillar shown as a High / Medium / Low tier, never a number (yield stability, sustainability, capital stickiness, exit liquidity), the experimental 14-day forward yield forecast range (low / central / high), and retail access restrictions. Look up by pool_id, or by exact asset symbol (highest-TVL railed match, with candidates listed). The forecast is experimental.
explain
explain_rails
Returns DeFi Garden's active filtering rules (1000% APY sanity cap, $100K TVL floor, anomaly flagging) and the data source, for autonomous agent safety.
forever
forever_number
Computes the lump-sum capital whose yield alone covers a recurring monthly bill forever, using a TVL-weighted blended rate of railed pools (or a caller-supplied APY between 0 and 1000 percent).
pools
find_pools
Search DeFi Garden's railed pool list by token symbol, chain, project, and minimum TVL floor. Excludes anomalous rates (>1000% APY) and pools below $100K TVL. Data is a daily snapshot of DefiLlama's pool feed.

DeFi Garden — questions

Answers built from our own checks of this server.

What can DeFi Garden do?
It exposes 5 tools, read directly from the server on our last check. Among them: explain_rails, find_pools, forever_number, get_pool, get_pool_score. The full list with descriptions is on this page — we take it from the server itself via tools/list, not from a README. How MCP servers expose tools in the first place →
Is DeFi Garden working right now?
We send a real MCP handshake every 15 minutes. Over the last 24 hours 5 of 91 checks got a reply (5.5%), average response time 477 ms. The bar chart above shows every period we have measured.
Did DeFi Garden ever remove tools?
Yes. find_lending_rate, get_base_yields, get_looping_params, get_trust_rails are no longer exposed — we recorded the date each one disappeared. A tool vanishing usually means a breaking change for anything that depended on it.
The registry lists DeFi Garden as active — why does it not respond?
The official MCP registry stores what the author submitted; it does not verify that the server still runs. We check the endpoint ourselves, and this one does not answer. Catalogues that copy the registry without checking will show it as working.
How do I connect DeFi Garden?
Copy the ready config from this page. We generate it for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex, Cursor and VS Code, each in the form that client actually reads. It is a remote server, so there is nothing to install — the client connects to the address.
Does DeFi Garden need an API key?
No. DeFi Garden completed a full MCP handshake with us as an anonymous client and listed its tools without asking for anything. All 5 of them are readable on this page. This is what we observed, not what the docs claim.
How fast is DeFi Garden?
It answers our handshake in 477 ms on average, which is faster than 25% of all working MCP servers we measure. That is on the slow side — worth knowing if the tool sits inside an interactive loop. The comparison comes from our own checks across the whole registry, every 15 minutes.
Is DeFi Garden open source?
The code is open source: it is published under the MIT licence, written in JavaScript, 1 stars on GitHub and 3 open issues. The licence covers the code in the repository, not the hosted service at defi.garden, which runs on its operator's own terms.
