contractor
check_contractor
Check a contractor's license against official state and local licensing records covering dozens of US jurisdictions. The covered set grows over time; GET /v1/coverage on this host for the exact current list, and never assume from this description whether a jurisdiction is covered. Provide a license number or a business name, plus the jurisdiction. Returns match (the license record with status and provenance), candidates (disambiguate and call again; page with offset), no_match_in_index (NOT a determination of unlicensure), or jurisdiction_not_covered (with an official pointer URL for that jurisdiction; the response message states exactly what the link is, which for some jurisdictions is a consumer-protection or licensing-board page rather than a license lookup, so relay the message's wording and never present the link as a license lookup unless the message says it is one).

Plumbline — questions

Answers built from our own checks of this server.

What can Plumbline do?
It exposes 1 tools, read directly from the server on our last check. Among them: check_contractor. The full list with descriptions is on this page — we take it from the server itself via tools/list, not from a README. How MCP servers expose tools in the first place →
Is Plumbline working right now?
We send a real MCP handshake every 15 minutes. Over the last 24 hours 48 of 48 checks got a reply (100.0%), average response time 414 ms. The bar chart above shows every period we have measured.
How do I connect Plumbline?
Copy the ready config from this page — we generate it for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex, Cursor and VS Code, each with the file path that client actually reads. It is a remote server, so there is nothing to install — the client connects to the address.
Does Plumbline need an API key?
No. Plumbline completed a full MCP handshake with us as an anonymous client and listed its tools without asking for anything. All 1 of them are readable on this page. This is what we observed, not what the docs claim.
How fast is Plumbline?
It answers our handshake in 414 ms on average, which is faster than 34% of all working MCP servers we measure. The comparison comes from our own checks across the whole registry, every 15 minutes.
