Atlas does not always answer

Over the last week it answered 91.6% of our checks. We check every 15 minutes, so you hear about the next outage within the hour — not from your users.

Read directly from the server with tools/list, grouped by what they act on. If a tool disappears, we record the date.

atlas
atlas_cards
Read 1-4 canonical ids as one ordered Card per id: identity, Hook, and sealed claims with source addresses. Set provenance=true to expand every cited source's Release-bound audit facts in the same atomic response. Use atlas_read for Section wording or a complete Node.
atlas_links
Page one subject's relationship occurrences, outbound then inbound, each with direction, reference class, source Section, and the far end's Hook, plus its identity unless the class is 'undisclosed'. Use atlas_read for the full Node.
atlas_navigate
Read 'tree', the canonical ordered traversal of every published node, or 'tour', the publisher-curated first learning path. Use atlas_orient for relevance-ranked discovery.
atlas_orient
Discover canonical identity from an ordinary-language query — the entry point when no canonical id is held. Ranked: identity fields and sealed claims decide candidacy, Section text only when no identity field matches; ordered by identity score, then Section score, then how many words matched, then manifest position. Node candidates carry id, status, Hook, and disclosure class; Decision and term candidates carry exactly a read address and Hook. A term's Hook is its full sealed definition. Results are paged. A miss is a successful empty payload.
atlas_read
Read a complete Node (bare id: identity, hierarchy, Hook, and every Section — relationships are recovered through atlas_links), one Section ('node-id#section-slug'), one Decision record ('decision:<decision-id>'), or one exact glossary definition ('term:<key>'). A Card from atlas_cards is usually cheaper than a whole Node.

Atlas — questions

Answers built from our own checks of this server.

What can Atlas do?
It exposes 5 tools, read directly from the server on our last check. Among them: atlas_cards, atlas_links, atlas_navigate, atlas_orient, atlas_read. The full list with descriptions is on this page — we take it from the server itself via tools/list, not from a README. How MCP servers expose tools in the first place →
Is Atlas working right now?
We send a real MCP handshake every 15 minutes. Over the last 24 hours 50 of 93 checks got a reply (53.8%), average response time 342 ms. The bar chart above shows every period we have measured.
Did Atlas ever remove tools?
Yes. atlas_decisions, atlas_define, atlas_provenance are no longer exposed — we recorded the date each one disappeared. A tool vanishing usually means a breaking change for anything that depended on it.
The registry lists Atlas as active — why does it not respond?
The official MCP registry stores what the author submitted; it does not verify that the server still runs. We check the endpoint ourselves, and this one does not answer. Catalogues that copy the registry without checking will show it as working.
How do I connect Atlas?
Copy the ready config from this page — we generate it for Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex, Cursor and VS Code, each with the file path that client actually reads. It is a remote server, so there is nothing to install — the client connects to the address.
Does Atlas need an API key?
No. Atlas completed a full MCP handshake with us as an anonymous client and listed its tools without asking for anything. All 5 of them are readable on this page. This is what we observed, not what the docs claim.
How fast is Atlas?
It answers our handshake in 342 ms on average, which is faster than 49% of all working MCP servers we measure. The comparison comes from our own checks across the whole registry, every 15 minutes.
